The Challenge

A healthcare portal serving millions of patients was experiencing severe performance issues. API response times were averaging 3.2 seconds, causing doctors and patients to abandon the platform in frustration.

Our Solution

We profiled the API and found N+1 query problems, missing indexes, and no caching layer. We implemented query optimization, added Redis caching for frequently accessed data, introduced Elasticsearch for search operations, and added database connection pooling.

The Results

API response times dropped to 480ms on average. The platform can now handle 10x more concurrent users, and user satisfaction scores jumped from 62% to 94%.
